Deer Meadows Golf Course in Cambridge, MN, is located on Palisade Drive near the Sprint River Nature Area. Designers built the course in a bucolic setting close to lake country on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. The Par 3, nine-hole layout rewards pinpoint shots off the tee. Golfers can enjoy nine holes in less than two hours without worrying about trailing golfers rushing them on the greens.

The first thing that strikes golfers playing this course is the number of opportunities to hit a tee or approach shot into the drink. Water dominates the course, more so than the lush Bluegrass fairways and low-cut Bent Grass greens. The wide-open, flat terrain of this golf course means wind can play a huge role in determining club selection. Golfers can avoid the water hazards on calm days. However, just a gust of wind can carry what looks to be a straight on approach shot into a pond that sits to the right of the green. Many players prepare for this course by practicing low trajectory shots with enough under spin to stop on a green. Once on one of the Bent grass greens, golfers get a true read of the putting surface’s straight line. Golfers do not have yardage markers for gauging fairway position.

Golfers use the newly constructed putting green to get a read on the greens. Like virtually every other Par 3 course, this one does not have a driving range. Golfers can rent clubs and secure them on a motor cart. The flat course is conducive for walking, especially since it allows golfers to watch the wildlife that passes by on the northern edge of the course. Golfers who dislike playing on courses surrounded by homes will love playing Deer Meadows Golf Course.
