History

When Frank Haas and his wife, Gail, made several trips to Branson, Missouri, it was decided that northern Minnesota could use a similar type of entertainment. Together Frank and Bill Proudfoot joined forces and began the task of creating a theatre.

Woodtick Theatre opened in the summer of 1989 after extensive remodeling of a building in Akeley. In 1994 Frank bought Bill's share of Woodtick. He truly loved "Woodtick" and the people, but in 1997, he sold Woodtick to Mike and Cindy Chase who continue to offer a fun, family show in the "Woodtick" tradition. Frank passed away on September 25, 2000. We all appreciate his dedication to the TICK.
