Decorsa Vineyard & Farm Winery

Decorsa Vineyard & Farm Winery
40306 Torchlight Rd

Open: Year Round

The dream of the vineyard was started in 2009 with the planting of 150 grapes. We have been adding grapes and working on buildings each year. We grow all or most of what we make into wine.

We use no herbicides, cultivating instead; trellises are constructed of locally harvested tamarack and cedar posts, no treated. We are totally off the grid making our own electric 12 volt with solar and wind, and pumping water with the wind using gravity to supply the winery and irrigate the vineyard. We use LP gas for some lights, stove, refrigeration, hot water and some heat. Wine is stored in a below ground wine cellar that stays at 45 to 65º winter and summer.

The building is built with as many recycled items as we could. Most of the lumber used was locally harvested and sawed. Concrete blocks were seconds; the concrete has no fly ash (the acid rain of the 60s) the best in the area! The barn was built about the 1920s and moved from two miles away, saved from imminent collapse as it's foundation was crumbling. The logs under it were local and leftovers.

The vineyard is woman owned by Betty. The name DeCorsa was taken from DeCoursey and in Italian the corsa means journey. It has been a ride!
